Support the World’s First Indigenous Leadership Program in Antarctica with Olivia Sorre: Make a Donation!

Teddy Bears Olivia SorreOlivia Sorre and Outback to Icecap have set a goal to take over 250 teddy bears onto the Antarctic Ice Shelf to be photographed by a professional photographer, for an attempt to break a world record for “Toys on the Antarctic Shelf.”

Ms. Sorre is looking forward to taking part in a remarkable leadership program called Outback to Icecap:  the world’s first Indigenous Leadership Expedition in Antarctica. She will be one of 26 travelling mentors who will be walking alongside eight very inspirational young Indigenous adolescents from all over Australia and all walks of life – Allira, Brandon, Tyson, Cori, Shauna, Mikayla, Brody and Dean.

‘I believe this is a lifetime opportunity for me.  It met all of my criteria in being an inspiring leader- the ability to mentor youths, being able to experience Antarctica but above all walk alongside some of the younger Indigenous people. To exchange stories and life experiences with a young person and other travel mentors in such a landmark way is my way of giving back’.   It was for these reasons; I just had to put in an application to become a Travelling Mentor.

- Olivia Sorre

The trip itself is later this year where Ms. Sorre and her team will head off to Argentina onto Antarctica for 16 days kayaking, snow shoeing, ice climbing and attempting to climb a peak. The program is led by Beatrice Imbert and Expedition leader Peter Bland (who is the 1st Australian to have walked to the North and South Poles).

Ms. Sorre is currently raising funds to cover travel costs for Brandon and myself as the two are the only SA representatives.

Rochunga Pudaite has Helped in Translating the Bible into Five Different Languages

Rochunga PudaiteAt the helm of Bibles for the World, Inc., Rochunga Pudaite—an expert in bible education—trains preachers and teachers, and translates the bible. He has set the precedent in the field of bible education, paving the way for religious servicemen to reach out to neighbors abroad and spread the glory of God, via his 501(c)(3) organization.

From CBN Asia:

Chwanga Pudaite, the son of a headhunter, met a Welshman by the name of Watkin Roberts. The year was 1910, and the seven days that Roberts spent in the foothills of the Hmar territory in India changed Chwanga’s future. The quiet, soft-spoken Welshman told Pudaite of a living God who sent His Son into our world to bring life, and that week Chwanga Pudaite made a decision which cost him dearly.  When he decided to follow Jesus, he was driven from his home and family.  But when his son was born, he prayed that he might be the one to take the Bible back to the hills of Hmar from which he had come.

Chwanga’s son, Rochunga, was anything but a model boy, yet early in his teen years, Rochunga followed in the footsteps of his father and likewise became a Christian.  After he completed high school by sweeping floors and chopping wood for board and tuition, Rochunga appealed to Prime Minister Nehru for a scholarship.  His faith was rewarded.  The first scholarship ever given by the Indian government to a tribal student went to Rochunga.

During those years, he began thinking of his father’s dream‑‑a Bible in their native Hmar dialect.  When Rochunga was elected president of the newly formed political party by the Hmar leaders, he was on the verge of forgetting his dream for a political career.  During those days of decision, a cable arrived from Watkin Roberts‑‑the man who had first introduced his father to Christ. Instead of throwing his hat into the political arena, Rochunga came to America for graduate study. As he studied, Rochunga (Ro for short) also translated the New Testament into his native tongue, and it was published by the London Bible Society.

Terrie Lea Exemplifies the True Meaning of Faith and Perseverance, and Shows Miracles are Possible through God’s Singing Children

Terrie LeaTerrie Lea has gone through a lot in her lifetime, enduring many smiles, laughter and love as well as heartaches, trials, and tears. The Lord called her in 1987 and gave her the gift of song. She was ordained in 1991 as a song minister. In 1992, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. In December of 1992, she was in the hospital getting ready to have surgery, but the Lord told her to tell the doctor to check one more time, and when the doctor did, the cancer was no longer there. On through the years, Terrie Lea has had things happened to her, different sicknesses, but the Lord was always there on time to deliver her from all the attacks. She has been healed so many times by her Father God, who loves her so dearly. From the year 2003 to 2007, it seemed there was always something to discourage her, but her vision and the calling God had placed in her life gave her the strength to overcome all the traps the enemy had set before her.

Upon her arrival into the year 2007, everything one could have imaged when it came to illness was thrust her way every four days—but God was there, right on time. In October 2007, Terrie Lea suffered an injury from protecting her granddaughter that led to blood clots in her left leg that traveled to her right lung as well. In December 2007, another blood clot developing in the other leg and traveled to the other lung. Terrie Lea has suffered several physical ailments, disappointments or setbacks that have transformed her life, but she refuses to give into the despair or depression that could weigh her down. She focuses on the positive outlook in life and is sometimes described as too optimistic and trusting, and has come to be known as a “Pollyanna.” Through the many medical conditions, Terrie Lea had to make the difficult choice of moving to Florida to be close to the Mayo Clinic for her health. This was an extremely difficult decision to be away from her family. However, her health and medical care have improved and she visits as often as she can, especially during the holidays. She loves Christmas, and the holidays would not be the same without her family. They know that she is the spirit of Christmas in their home. She strives to a better Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend each and every day.

Terri LeaTerrie Lea believes in the goodness of others and the importance of unconditional love, faith, family and the Lord and Savior in her life. She has been extraordinarily blessed in her life and wants to continue to make her mark upon this earth. It is the Lord within her that sings, not her. When He called her to sing in 1987, she couldn’t talk let alone sing in front of people. He said then it was Him in her and to not be afraid. She has gone through many hardships and trials that have tested her faith and strength in the Lord. She has suffered physically with illness, such as COPD, cancer, and blood clots in both lungs and legs and when she felt like giving up and quitting singing for the Lord, He has spoken to her and said, “Terrie, I am not finished with you yet.” She is so blessed to have always been held in the palm of God’s hands to be protected, loved, guided and inspired. Her family is the most important thing in life and she has fought to protect her husband, her children and grandchildren from life’s hardships. She is not perfect, but she strives to be better each and every day.

Terrie LeaTerrie Lea hopes to see her legacy continue with her grandchildren. It is amazing to see how a young girl who was afraid to sing is working on her fifth album—singing, producing, and writing songs. She can see God’s blessings in her grandchildren and how they are touched with God’s love, empathy and grace. Her oldest grandson, Colton, wrote his first song at the age of seven. The younger grandchildren want to work for the Lord and she knows that one day Alyssa, Landon, Laken and the ones waiting in heaven to be born and bless the family, will work for the Lord in one capacity or another. Upon reflecting on the decisions she has made and on what she intends to be a bright future, Terrie Lea said, “I had to move to Florida for my health and to be away from all that I love in West Virginia. However, I know that with my family and God’s unconditional love that I will be okay. My calling has been to sing and speak to the broken-hearted with words and song. I am so blessed to have seen my life experiences, both good and bad, touch others in ways that I would not have thought possible.”

Health services are overwhelmed by the outbreak, with many health workers having been infected and a large number having died. World Vision CanadaThrough World Vision Canada, Ms. Johnson initiates charitable causes that serve to stop the spread of disease at its core. Sue Tierney Promotes the Advancement of Native Wildlife Protection with Ecotrap Pty Ltd.

Sue Tierney helps underprivileged children with Find a Penny Foundation Inc.Sue Tierney was inspired to establish Ecotrap, a humane animal trap for birds and small deer, by her innate belief that a charity should not be a business. The company’s aim is to provide a humane alternative to traditional trapping methods, and to provide its clients with the best service possible. Ms. Tierney also heads a charitable organization called Find a Penny Foundation Inc. The organization’s aim is to help with the simple things in life, food and clothing, for disadvantaged children.

It is Ms. Tierney’s conviction that all funds offered to the latter organization should be used to help the disadvantaged children who are living on or below the poverty line. Find a Penny will supply food, clothing and the things that other children have, directly to the child. She wants to give them hope.

Sue Tierney also heads Ecotrap Pty LtdMs. Tierney’s mission is to raise public awareness of local disadvantaged children, who are living at or below the poverty line. In her organization, 100-percent of the funds collected by Find a Penny go to help feed underprivileged, young children in their local area. The money collected goes directly to underprivileged children, helping them to obtain food and clothing, and to participate in other activities that are essential to their growth, in which other children in their community are able to engage. The motto is “If you’re hungry, let me feed you, if you’re tired, let me give you a chair.”

Ecotrap is supported by The RSPCA Victoria and The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Australia. These organizations champion the further development of the product, as it has been proven humane in the trapping of feral and domestic dogs and cats, birds, rabbits, bandicoots, wallabies and possums. The Ecotrap is ideal for use in urban as well as rural areas as it is more effective and safer than the traps and cages currently in general use.
