After the untimely passing of Thomas McGovern’s wife Denise, he was prompted to follow her advice, and “be generous.” Because that was one of the last things that she wished of him, Mr. McGovern made that his life’s goal. In honoring her final request, he founded a nonprofit organization—the Denise McGovern Memorial Conference Center—where the people of his community are welcome to holding conferences and events that support both the public and the church.
Mr. McGovern has since made the most of his background in the service sector and his financial expertise by serving as the organization’s Managing Director. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all accounting initiatives, calculating expenses, and decorating the center, in an effort to ensure that all who enter its doors can enjoy a comfortable and relaxed setting. Additionally, Mr. McGovern is in charge of bringing food to these events and setting up, and hosting family reunions, Christmas parties, class reunions, tournaments, and parties for small churches, small businesses, and companies. He also raises funds for his local church.
A compassionate and kindhearted soul, Mr. McGovern will never forget the words instilled in him by his late wife Denise, and these words have allowed him to help others. His enduring generosity has garnered for him recognition from his peers and fellow community leaders, as well as induction into Worldwide Branding. He is a member of the Staten Island Catholic Youth Organization, the Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, the First Baptist Church, the Council of Community Services, and the Life Foundation.
